Jocelyn Arndt: "Strangers In Fairyland" EP Review

Looking to listen to a new upcoming artist? Well look no further, Jocelyn Arndt is a 19 year old singer/songwriter from Boston who is already making a dent in the music industry. She alongside her 18 year old, guitar playing, co writer, brother Chris, managed to impact audiences everywhere they perform. Jocelyn’s distinctive vocal abilities have set her ablaze as she’s gotten the privilege of working with Grammy award winner Brad Blackwood throughout her musical career.

Jocelyn has recently teamed up with Popdust to release her new lyric video for her song “Lullaby”. It is the third song off her new EP album “Strangers in Fairyland” which was released October 27th. Jocelyn has also previously released her new song “Cinderella” and “Nevermind”. I got the chance to listen to her EP and I must say her vocals are breathtaking and filled with personal emotion even though the style of music isn’t typically what I listen to.

When discussing the video for “Lullaby”, Jocelyn has stated,
“It was a truly awesome experience to see the emotions in my lyrics for “Lullaby” actually come to life in the video. The whole feel is entirely stark, empty, and resigned which is great considering that we filmed our parts on green screen with the computer artwork added later. I think the emotion really comes through.”
Jocelyn has played the Big Apple Indie Music Series, Black Bear Music Festival, Move Music Fest, and the Utica Music & Arts Festival as well as appearing live on Fox Television's Good Day New York. In addition she's shared the stage with artists such as Magic Man, Ryan Montbleau, Shawn Rowe, and Shinobi Ninja, performing throughout New York, Massachusetts, Virginia, Michigan, Tennessee, and Georgia.

"Strangers in Fairyland" can now be purchased on Amazon and iTunes.

Night Riots: "Howl" EP Album Review

There’s no doubt that the Night Riots are on their way up to becoming the next “New Wave Sound”. An interesting band originally from San Luis Obispo, whom I recently had the privilege of reviewing the Night Riots newest EP and am pleased to say I took a shine to their style of music.

Their 80’s garage rock band sound is nothing short of “contagious” which is ironically the title to one of their songs on the album. Their infectious, vibrant melodies brought back memories as I recalled my high school obsessions with artists I discovered and conquered (meaning I replayed them over and over again). The album contains their songs “Contagious” which was released back in October of 2014 and is currently No.5 on SiriusXM , debuting at No.17 on the Billboard Heatseekers Chart is their EP "Howl" (released Jan. 20th via Sumerian Records)!

Night Riots have also released an eerie vignette for their new song, "Break" - today on BULLETT Magazine. Watch the vignette, here: http://bit.ly/BullettBreak. Night Riots’ vocalist Travis Hawley explains,
"'Break' conjures images of timeless youthful love." He continues, "We represented this idea by using antique film cuts of lovers kissing. At one point these clips were considered risqué and audacious. But looking back on them from our modern perspective, they seem so romantic in their confident and daring innocence."
With praise pouring in from the likes of Billboard, Earmilk, MTV, FUSE, Huffington Post, KROQ, All Things Go, NYLON, AV Club and Filter, and sharing recent bills with bands including Cage The Elephant, Walk The Moon, Meg Myers, OK Go, and more, Night Riots is setting the alternative underworld ablaze with their melody rich songs that have already endeared them to critics. I am greatly looking forward to seeing them live in San Diego for that will be the determining of their overall talent and abilities as musicians as they continue on with their musical endeavors.
