Thanksgiving Dinner - Why Not Let Someone Else Cook

This is going to be the first year I host Thanksgiving dinner for my little family. I know for most people this is a big deal, they go all out and cook all day long, running themselves ragged just so everyone else can eat a ton of food. I say everyone else because I for one never end up eating after I cook...who wants to grub after spending 8+ hours staring at it on the burner? Yeah, not this lady.

I like to really enjoy my food so I'm letting someone else do the cooking! Being as we're uber close to the day you're probably thinking it's too late to place an order...wrong. You'd be surprised how many restaurants will take orders up until the Friday before Thanksgiving.

Here's a list of places I found are still taking orders until this Friday, Nov. 22.

Marie Calendar's (various locations)- They wiill supply everything from a Turkey or Ham to the coffee you serve with your pumpkin pie. Thanksgiving feasts start at $99 for 6-8 people. You can even place your order online.

OrangeTree Deli* (Orange, CA) - Their regular Thanksgiving dinner (they say feeds 5-6 people, IMO it feeds 6-8) includes: Cooked turkey (cut or whole), 2 pies (pumpkin & cherry), homemade cranberry sauce, homemade mashed potatoes, stuffing, green salad, homemade biscuits & butter, utensils, and drinks. They charge $15.95 per person, so if you have a party of 5 this meal will cost you $79.75. Website does not give info on this dinner, call 714-998-4847 & ask for Leah for more details.

Lucille's BBQ (various locations) - Not just BBQ...you can get a whole smoked Turkey for as little as $49.99 or opt for their delicious Holiday Family Feast with Fixin's starting at $149.99.

*This is who'll be cooking up my Thanksgiving dinner. I had them once before, 2 years ago, and they made such a great meal I swore I'd use them if I ever had to host.

Tiny Prints Holiday Cards {Giveaway}

** This giveaway's officially being hosted on my other blog but wanted to share it with y'all. Feel free to enter below. **

I'm sure a few of you guys are gasping at the fact that I'm bringing up *whisper* "Christmas" and the fact it's probably time to get that tush in gear and start ordering those Holiday Cards.

Good thing is, I'm here to help...well technically, Tiny Prints is here to help.

For those of you living under a rock for the last like 5 years, Tiny Prints offers some of the best holiday cards around. Personally, they're the only company I've ever (and probably will ever) use when ordering Christmas Cards.

True story - two years ago they promised to have my cards sent out within 48 hours and when their printers went down and didn't allow my order to go out for 72 hours, they had my order shipped overnight (causing my cards to only be two days late) and provided me with a $50 gift certificate as compensation for the error. Um, freakin' awesome...love this company!

So of course it's no surprise I'm surfing their site for this years cards. Only problem is, I love them all.

Especially these ->

Christmas Comic

Glittering Powder

Happy Pawlidays

Tagged Tidings

The Naughty List

The Tiny Prints 2013 holiday card collection offers fantastic new options:
o   New trim options for 2013 - Square, rounded, bracket, ticket & scallop trim options
o   Clear cards!
o   New design styles for 2013 – Contemporary, Classic, Vintage, Full bleed photos, All That Glitters, Bold Expressions, Simply Chic, Woodland Wonder & The New Tradition
o   Matching address labels and envelope liners

And if you really want to get in the early holiday spirit, Tiny Prints is hosting a Twitter Party with @ResourcefulMom on Wednesday, Nov 14 @2pm (EST). Join the fun by using #TinyPrintsCheer or RSVP here and check out all the awesome prizes they'll be giving away.

"A Day Just For Women" Conference In Pomona

I'm not at all going to blame you if you instantly had an image of grown women embracing one another while singing "Kumbaya". Truth is, I had a brief image of that flash into my own head.

However, this is way cooler than that.

A whole day of listening to amazing, strong, smart women speak about...well, women. This cool event is happening this Friday, November 8 (I know, short notice much?) at the Sheraton Fairplex Conference Center in Pomona and it's bound to be a fantastic way to get to know yourself.

Whether you choose to take the day off from work and play hookie or spend the day away from the kiddos...this is the place to be. Especially for a mere $40. I know I'd totally be there* if I didn't have a day full of doctors appointments.

Hope some of you can make it. If anything, just to sit there and listen to the amazing Dr. Jenn Berman. No lie, I listen to her entire show on the commute home. Who needs to pay for therapy when you have her on XM radio haha.

*The venue was kind enough to offer me a ticket but since I can't make it they're letting me give it away to an awesome blogger (only catch is you have to live tweet...as if you wouldn't be doing it anyway, right?). Leave me a message if you're interested in my ticket.

Things I Said Would Never Happen If I Had A Dog...

Yep, that's my new pup.

We took her in a little over a month ago after her family put up an ad to re-home her on Craigslist. It's been a tough few weeks with all of us trying to get used to each others habits but she's been great. Thank gawd.

Since bringing her into our lives I've actually noticed I've started to do those things that I swore would never ever happen if I had a dog.

Ha, what a fool.

Believe me, I'm eating my words.

I'd sworn "I'd never..." but am totally doing:
  • Let the dog on the couch. (she's only allowed to lay on it if her blanket is down first)
  • Buy "special" dog for delicate a puppy stomach.
  • Spend tons of money on grooming supplies and flea control.
  • Feed it teeny bits of my people food.
  • Sleep in my bed, under my covers, between the hubs and I.
  • Feel guilty whenever I have to leave her for work.
      and lastly
  • Talk to it in baby talk.
I know, I know...how the mighty have fallen. But I mean, who wouldn't for that cute little face and one blue eye.
